Welcome

Hello and welcome to our website. In it you will find a lot of detail about who we are, what we have done, why we do it and what we plan to do in the future.

As you will see, we have been active since 1946. We are proud that we have been able over the years to have considerable influence over the state of the built environment in Doncaster. Of course, we are not always listened to but our large membership and stable financial situation means that we will be there in the long term to champion the very best in new architecture and urban design and seek the protection and preservation of Doncaster’s historic buildings and places.

Like many similar organisations, we have experienced setbacks due to the pandemic but we have not been wasting our time. For example, we are developing a suite of interactive town trails accessible on smartphones. The first features a tour of Doncaster’s historic city centre. It is free to use and I hope you find it pleasurable and informative.

Of course, you are very welcome to become a member of the Trust. For £7.50 per annum you can enjoy our annual series of fascinating talks, receive newsletters and join fellow members on guided heritage walks. All our members are encouraged to take an active role in the work of the Trust.

I hope you enjoy exploring our website.

Welcome to Doncaster’s New Interactive Town Trail

We are delighted to announce the launch of a major new initiative by the Trust. For the past couple of years, film maker and Trustee Mark Waterhouse has been creating an exciting and more detailed digital version of our popular Doncaster Town Trail. This allows smartphone and tablet users to enjoy self-guided tours of the town centre to find out more about our wonderful architectural heritage.

You can find out much more about this initiative here.

Access to the Trail is to be found by visiting our sister website www.doncastertowntrail.co.uk

We hope you enjoy this new experience!
